Double A English |
I am an ESL / EFL teacher in Wrocław, Poland. This blog brings you my (sometimes amusing, sometimes clever) observations on the English language and American culture. Mostly it comprises things I think about when I'm teaching or planning. |
Some say that “whom” is going the way of the dinosaur. What do you think?
I still teach my students when to use “whom” but recognize that it’s primarily used in writing.
If you answer “him” it should be “whom”. Whom did you vote for? Him. Whom did you give the book to? Them.
But, it doesn’t sound as “good” as “who” … so colloquially we still say “Who.”
